Suffering

child

Suffering is a doorway,

through which we can welcome others.

It’s sight is like a mirror

of our brothers’ pain.

It falls on us like a shower,

washing away our dreams.

Deciding to neglect suffering

is like inviting rats into our home,

while we look for distractions

they will erode it’s foundation.

By focusing on breathing

we can mould our soul

to suffering’s porous surface,

finally listening to it’s silent scream.

Let our inner child

cry on our shoulders,

and the miracle of healing

will happen.

Refreshed by these tears,

we might hear

the heartbeat of the world.

It certainly does help to view suffering as the invitation to be with Light.
